Celeste talks with us about the process of bringing Lucien to life, the man that is Lucien, and who was up to the task of harnessing this sexy bachelor.
Just one day away from collecting the reluctant ruler, the royal transport inexplicably disappears from its flight path. As the empire scrambles to find their missing emperor, Lucien embarks on a journey that challenges his intellect, tests his endurance, and pushes his emotions to the breaking point.
Tana Jameson wonders who she pissed off to warrant an investigative assignment aboard a cargo ship in the middle of the Atlantic. A moment of curiosity jettisons her into an alien world beyond her imagination and directly into the arms of a man stepping right out of her wildest fantasy.

Lucien Tarquinius is the emperor of his home world, Insedivertus. He’s traveling to a neighboring planet to bring back a potential king to replace the bad one that readers endured throughout Book 1 DRUSUS, Book 2 SEVERUS, and Book 3 CATO. In Book 3, the reader learned that Lucien’s transport disappeared from its flight path.
This fourth installment gives the reader a front row seat to find out what happened to the transport, the trials the empire goes through to find their missing emperor, what Lucien and his crew endure, and the nail biting steps of trying to get out of the mess they find themselves within. While battling for his life, Lucien meets Tana Jameson and she knocks him for a loop. A moment of curiosity had caused her to be caught up in the same drama that Lucien and his crew encounter. Their meeting is combustible. They’re immediately intrigued with each other and the harrowing experience just amplifies the sparks that fly between the two.
The reader will be introduced to some new characters, hear from characters they fell in love with in the prior books, and get peeks into storylines for upcoming installments.
LUCIEN is book 4 in the Fueled by Lust series. Can you tell readers a bit about the setting in the series and explain who the Insedi are:
The Insedi are a race of beings that were living peacefully on their home world until a neighboring planet’s ‘mad king’ decided he wanted to take them over. He thought that by killing all of their females he could control them. Instead, he got a planetary war and a whole lot of trouble from the Insedi warrior breed. In order to assure their continued existence, the Insedi needed to find a mate alternate. To do this, they travel through a planetary vortex back to the home of their original ancestors—Earth.
The Insedi came into existence when an ancient Roman Emperor and his wife stumbled upon a planetary vortex that took them to an alien world occupied by pure energy forms known as the Nubis. The Nubis were intrigued by the humans, mimicked their essence, and formed the first Insedi breed. This is why they look just like humans, carry ancient Latin names, and can still reform into their pure energy form. The Insedi have a symbiotic relationship with their planet and require energy stabilization. Only mated Insedi are fully stable. Those without mates need to constantly replenish.
Since Earth doesn't provide their usual energy source, the Earth-bound males were fortunate enough to stumble upon an alternate—sensual and sexual desire. They take on the roles of male strippers and male escorts in order to be around this energy until they can locate their mates. Now you know where the title comes from—they’re fueled by lust.
The main setting for the series is Austin, Texas and the Insedi home world of Insedivertus, but there are instances where the story will lead them to other planets and galaxies.
Readers love your steamy covers. Please tell us a little about the design process for the cover of LUCIEN:
Since the Earth-bound Insedi play the role of male entertainers, I thought it would be appropriate to select my cover models from a pool of gorgeous men that are, or have been, male entertainers. I only use male models because this series emphasizes the close relationship and camaraderie of this group of warriors that are all working toward the same goal.
Whenever I’m starting a new book, I’ll send out a cover call to all the male revue sites and ask if any of the guys might be interested in partnering up with me on the book. I always stress ‘partner’ because I’m looking for men that are just as excited as I am about the process from a book’s genesis and all the way through the craziness of social media.
With the cover of LUCIEN, Richard Jimenez, the producer of Magnificent 7 Male Revue out of Los Angeles, responded to my call after I spotted someone that intrigued me on his website. Yep, it was those smoldering eyes. He led me to Axel, one of the Mag 7 entertainers and a sought after model in the California area. I’m lucky to have gotten him for this cover.
We all worked together over several months to end up with that sexy as hell outcome you now get to eyeball. The process of acquiring the photo from Axel would take too long to explain here, but it had to be one of the craziest things I've been through for a cover, so far. All I’ll say is—white bouffant wig—and I’m positive that Axel is cracking up right now if he’s reading this. No, it wasn't his, so don’t even go there. Bottom line, I liked the way Axel looked in this already-existing photo. Not only does he have that same penetrating gaze like Lucien Tarquinius, but he was also wearing that leather shoulder harness just like in the story. Serendipitous. Axel was definitely my muse. I never have airbrushed models. Axel is the real deal, ladies.
As a final thought on this subject, I have to tell you that Richard Jimenez is a total doll and a shrewd businessman. He started out as a Chippendale dancer—yes, he’ll make you drool and breath heavy more than once, trust me—and is now a personal trainer and a producer of V2S Productions (Vision to Stage). Axel is, by far, one of the sexiest men I've ever seen. Okay, I’m biased because I've been staring at his face for months now. I've never heard his voice or met him in person (yet), but through many text messages and emails, I learned that he’s a genuine sweetheart, very intelligent, appreciates my quirky sense of humor, and has the patience of a saint. I’m still surprised that he didn't drive to Texas and murder me. That’s how much I bugged him. Big kiss to both Richard and Axel for being there for me and bringing LUCIEN to life.

Share a bit about Lucien with us, and what makes him "hero" material:
Lucien may be the emperor, but that doesn't mean he’s a soft, stuffed-shirt aristocrat. Once he’s away from Insedivertus and traveling with his crew of elite warriors, he wants to be just like everyone else. He pushes off his heavy mantle of leadership and just chills with his dudes for a bit. However, when there’s an emergency, he easily falls back into what he was born to do—lead.
You discover the true nature of someone when they are severely tasked and Lucien’s warriors see this very quickly. There is no doubt that he’s intelligent, cunning, and would sacrifice himself to see that they survive. He is truly the people’s emperor.
When he meets Tana, you’ll see a side of Lucien that he’d buried for centuries due to the past with his deceased mate. Tana awakens something in him and despite the confusion and painful self-realizations, he makes the right choices and endears himself to many.
Tell us what makes Tana the "leading lady" in LUCIEN:
I absolutely loved Tana. She’s found herself in a situation that would make a majority of people just curl up in on themselves and cry like a baby. She’s tough as hell and refuses to cave to the madness. Lucien is intrigued the second he meets her. She even garners the respect of the hard-core elite warriors that aren't easily impressed to start with. She’s funny, creative, and definitely Lucien’s match in the gray-matter area. She’s just what he needs. Tana’s personality is sort of a combination between Cassie (Book 2 SEVERUS) and Avelina (Book 1 DRUSUS). Best of both. I think you’ll appreciate her.
Are any of your characters anything like you or your life?
Only in two aspects regarding the female leads—tough and have an appreciation for humor. Other than that, we look nothing alike, or have any other mannerisms in common. Until an Insedi male swoops in and claims me, I can’t write our story yet (wink).
Regarding the male characters, Cato came the closest to being like me and my life. I've been in the IT (Information Technology) world and he’s the Insedi IT guru. Plus, he rides a Harley and I've got one of those, too. So, yeah. Cato’s my buddy.
Who was the hardest character to write in LUCIEN and why?
Without adding spoilers in here, there’s a particular character that didn't speak the same language as Tana. Their encounters are silent, but very meaningful. I had to make sure that I got that interaction across without being a narrator standing off to the side. It was hard, but very rewarding.
What was your favorite scene to write?
There’s a scene with Tana where she witnesses something that scares her silly and pits the elite guards against something terrifying. It’s fast paced, scary, humorous, sweet, and life changing. There was a lot of action, so I had to be extremely careful that I did it justice. I like challenges like that. It makes me ask myself if what I’m seeing in my head actually translated correctly to the page. I can see it vividly in my mind, but did I give just enough detail that a reader will see it the same way I did. I think the readers are going to enjoy it.
What is your writing routine like? How much of your time do you spend marketing, blogging, networking, and writing books?
Writing 30%, blogging 10%, marketing 20%, and networking 40%. It’s really a very small amount when you think about this only happening on lunch hours, breaks, and after work. It shocks me when I can complete a book in three months. Come on readers, spread the word on the books and I bet I can knock out a few more series for you if I didn't have to go to the ‘regular’ job every day (grins).
Have you won any Honors, Citations or Prizes?
SEVERUS received “Best Book” review from Long and Short Reviews. He also won April 2014 Erotic Book of the Month Reader Poll.
CATO won the May/June 2014 Erotic Book of the Month Poll.
DRUSUS was nominated as Top 5 Finalist for RWA’s Passionate Pink’s 9th Annual Passionate Plume Published Book Award in the Erotic SciFi/Fantasy category. I won’t find out the winner until July 26, 2014 at the RWA Convention being held in San Antonio. Fingers crossed.
All of them have hit in the Top 5 Bestseller in the Male/Female Category on Bookstrand.com and within the Top 10 Hottest New Releases on Amazon. LUCIEN surprised me and hit #4 on Bookstrand.com the 4th day of release. That was a first. I was grinning like an idiot for over an hour.
I've only been writing since August of 2013, so having gotten these recognitions and reader response in this surrealistic journey I’m on has been pretty special for me.
