Since I was three years old I’ve delighted in entertaining people, admittedly most of whom were related to me. It started when I danced at the Raleigh Little Theater and sugar plum faired my way across the stage. Next came song writing, a guitar, and performing for small groups. But the crowds grew larger and I discovered my own personal albatross; stage fright. I “overcame” my disability by directing my creative energy to writing. Poems, the nonmusical version of songs, earned me honors in school and a degree in English.
I continued indulging in my passion of amusing friends and family with lyrical lines about everything from knights rescuing a damsel in distress to ethereal adventures in outer space. After sharing one of these poems with a friend, she asked me if I had ever read a romance novel. A what? You mean like a Fabio on the cover book? That’s when she handed me a Nora Roberts paperback.
I devoured the pages and bought every Nora book available. Encouraged by the sheer happiness I experienced reading this author’s work, I joined a local writer’s group where I learned the complex skill involved in writing a romance as well as the punishing process of getting published. I almost quit many times. But I had a story percolating in my brain; one I wanted to share.
Forever in Ocala is a contemporary romance set in the small town of Ocala, Florida where thoroughbred horses and rolling green hills dot the landscape. The story has all my favorite elements; horses, SEALs so sexy two of the secondary characters deserved their own book and last but not least a heroic equine veterinarian.
The second book in my Forever series, Forever My Zumba Heart, picks up where the first one leaves off and pits a free spirited Zumba instructor against a willful SEAL being hunted by Al Qaeda assassins.
The third book, Forever the One.com, combines comedy with suspense when a SEAL in search of his soul mate joins a dating site.
But there is life beyond a series and I have a paranormal in the works called the Great Unifier where witches rule.
My hope is you’ll be entertained by my characters and their stories and enjoy turning the pages or sliding your finger across the screen for many years to come.
