Jen Gilroy lives in a small town in eastern Ontario, Canada where her Irish ancestors settled in the nineteenth century. She's worked in higher education and international marketing but, after spending too much time in airports and away from her family, traded the 9-5 to write romantic women’s fiction to bring readers' hearts home.
Jen likes ice cream, diners, vintage style and all things country. Her husband is her real-life romance hero, and her teen daughter teaches her to cherish the blessings in the everyday.
The Cottage at Firefly Lake, the first book in her Firefly Lake series, was a finalist for Romance Writers of America’s Golden Heart® award in 2015. It was also shortlisted for the Romantic Novelists’ Association Joan Hessayon Award 2017.

Before I became a writer, I was a reader like you. Through books, I experienced new places and people far beyond the Midwestern city where I grew up. At times of stress and sadness, books gave me escape, comfort and hope. And as I laughed, cried and experienced every emotion in between, the characters in books became as dear to me as old friends.
When I began writing toward publication, I wrote the stories I most enjoyed reading—about women’s lives, loves, and family and community relationships. And now, as a newly published author, I want to give my readers some small measure of what my favorite authors have given me.
My first book, The Cottage at Firefly Lake, was published by Hachette Book Group, Grand Central, Forever, in January 2017. Publication day was a dream come true, and what one of my favorite fictional heroines, Anne of Green Gables, would have called “an epoch in my life.”
The second book in the series, Summer on Firefly Lake, releases on July 25, 2017, and will be followed by the last in the trilogy, Back Home at Firefly Lake in early December. Blending contemporary romance with romantic women’s fiction, my Firefly Lake books are set in a small Vermont town where roots and love run deep, and finding a happy ending also means finding a place to call home.
If you pick up one of my books, thank you. I’m grateful for each and every one of my readers and am glad you’re sharing this journey with me. I’m always happy to hear from you via my website, or to chat on Facebook and Twitter where I post frequently.
Sometimes love is better the second time around.
Mia Gibbs spent her marriage putting her husband’s needs before her own. And now, after a painful divorce, she’s building a new life for herself and her two daughters back home at Firefly Lake. The last thing she needs is a man to complicate things. But former bad boy turned friend Nick McGuire has turned everything upside down.
Attorney Nick McGuire wasn’t meant to be a family man. His career has always been his focus, and after taking time out to help his mother, he’s ready to get back to the city…until Mia and her daughters arrive in Firefly Lake. Mia is beautiful and intriguing, and it doesn’t take long to realize being “just friends” will never be enough. As the summer nights turn colder, Nick will have to choose between the life he’s always wanted…and the woman he can’t live without.
