I think I was always a romance writer; I just didn’t realize it. As a kid, I used to actively resist falling asleep at night so I could make up stories in my head (and, you know, pave the way for a lifetime of insomnia). They were always love stories. (Jenny and Greg Brady lived happily ever after eventually gave way to Jenny and Mr. Darcy lived happily ever after.)
I never really stopped telling myself those stories, but, at the same time, I didn’t pick up my first romance novel until I was in my 30s. I came from a literary-minded family, and they just weren’t part of my experience. How I came to discover them is a long story for another day, but once I did—watch out! I never looked back. I distinctly remember finishing a Harlequin Historical one day, looking up and thinking, I COULD DO THIS. And eventually I did!
I’ve published contemporary and historical (Regency) romance with traditional publishers. Now I’m poised to release my first independently published series, New Wave Newsroom, which is set in a college newspaper in the 1980s. I had a blast revisiting the music, fashion, and slang of the 80s. I hope you’ll enjoy reading these books as much as I enjoyed writing them!
