I was born a storyteller at heart. I've got more story ideas than there is time in a day! I’ve been writing stories since I was nine or ten, and in fact, I still have some of the first ones I ever wrote! Becoming a writer has been my forever dream. And well, that’s all it was for a long time... just a dream. This changed for me when I became a mom.
It was important to me to encourage my girls to follow their dreams and to teach them not to let obstacles, big or smart, derail you. What mattered most was being true to yourself and living your life to the fullest. And it was then I realized I had been doing the very thing that I was telling my kids not to do. I'm a determined person and love a challenge, yet with this writing thing, I seemed to be good at finding excuses for why I couldn’t be a writer. And when I got real with myself, I realized that I was the biggest obstacle. The writing industry has changed so much, and there was no reason for me not to make my dream a reality. That’s when I decided to self-publish, and I've never regretted that decision! Even on days when I'm too tired to write or I can't seem to find enough hours in the day. Writing brings me happiness.
And one of the greatest gifts of being an author and bringing my stories to life is the impact it has had on my children. My kids are inspired and awed by what I’ve achieved and where I’m going. It fills me with such joy to know I’m showing them that dreams do come true and that they're the architects of their own future. They can be anything and do anything that they want!
I love to write all kinds of stories, with romance as my go-to, but in all of them, my characters are flawed. They are always strong; the women as much as the men, but none of them will be perfect. This speaks to my heart because life is a journey. We’re going to make mistakes, once in a while, but that’s the beauty of living. We get to mess up, learn from it and maybe even find something better or grow in a way that we would never have otherwise. And that’s what my characters experience and what my stories embody. The highs and lows of life, as well as the epic loves that stand the test of time and the friendships that endure.
When I get messages from readers telling me what a character means to them, or how a story moved them and spoke to their heart, I can't help but smile and want to write more! I hope you’ll fall in love with one or two, if not all, my characters, and be moved or find an escape for a few hours in the pages of my stories.
