Gemma's favorite desk accessories for many years were a circular wooden token, better known as a 'round tuit,' and a slip of paper from a fortune cookie proclaiming her a lover of words; some day she'd write a book. All it took was a transfer to the United Kingdom, the lovely English springtime, and a huge dose of homesickness to write her first novel. Once it was completed and sent off with a kiss, even the rejections addressed to 'Dear Author' were gratifying.
After returning to America, she spent a number of years as a copywriter, dedicating her skills to making insurance and the agents who sell them sound sexy. Eventually, her full-time job as a writer interfered with her desire to be a writer full-time and she left the world of financial products behind to pursue a career as a romance author.
Gemma focuses mainly on contemporary and paranormal romance, with an occasional detour into science fiction romance. Her titles are available in digital and print-on-demand at all major retailers.

Okay- now I’ve stared at this blank document for a few minutes, trying to figure out what to tell you about myself. And while I’ve stared, I’ve thought about starting the next load of laundry. Or putting the breakfast dishes in the dishwasher. Checking email, and Facebook or Instagram. Anything to keep from having to write about myself. For me, that’s the hardest part of the entire author journey. Why would anyone want to know about me? And what would be pertinent to share? But I can’t procrastinate forever. That’s not in my nature.
My journey to writing started around the time I quit my job as a marketing director at a shopping mall. I’d opted to stay at home with my high school aged children because I believed they needed me more then than they ever had. Without much to fill the school hours, I started scratching out a stories in a blank journal.
As usual, life interfered and my husband’s transfer to London took priority. For about a month. Then, with no job and no kids (they stayed in the States with family) the days seemed endless. I loved exploring, but there were only so many tourist sites. So I turned to writing again. As soon as I finished my first full-length novel, I sent it off to one publisher and one agent, feeling pretty big-time. Both rejected me, but were super nice and addressed their kindly worded, big fat NOs to Dear Author. They knew who I was!
Moving back to the States, I put writing on hold to accept a full-time job as a copywriter, honing my writing chops by making insurance agents and products sound sexy. But even fully occupied didn’t stop me wanting to write.
So I quit my job to be a writer full-time, found a publisher for my first contemporary romance series and haven’t looked back. I’m traditionally published and have several indie titles out as well. For my new series, The Goddesses of Delphi, my first real effort at paranormal/urban fantasy, I opted to publish it myself. Mythology has always intrigued me, and I’m a history nerd, so adding snippets of details has been truly fun. I have loved writing these stories about goddesses, The Muses, and the men who love them enough to join in their battle to save the world.
That’s my story in a nutshell (and writing it was more enjoyable that dusting). Tyranny will be out October 4, then watch for the next two in the series, Mayhem (Nov 8) and Greed (Dec 6). The rest of the series will release in the first half of 2017. I do hope you’ll like Tyranny and love the characters as much as I have.
