A week long book blitz for REVELATION is just around the corner so we decided to get the scoop on Randi Cooley Wilson's new paranormal romance series.
REVELATION, the first novel in the Revelation series by debut author Randi Cooley Wilson, is a new adult paranormal romance set in a dark and mystifying world. Beautifully written, REVELATION is a journey of self-discovery, love, and sacrifice.
Randi loves hearing from fans. Comments and questions in this post thread are encouraged.
What is the high concept in REVELATION?
At its core, Revelation is a story about self-discovery, love and sacrifice.
Please tell readers what REVELATION is about:
Revelation is volume one of a New Adult Paranormal Series, The Revelation Series. The story follows college freshman Eve Collins through her journey of self-discovery, love and sacrifice. Eve discovers that she is the key to a centuries old war, and it basically turns her life upside down. Asher St. Michael is her protector, who is forbidden to fall in love with her. He helps Eve acclimate through her life’s changes while struggling with his attraction to her, while Gage Gallagher becomes a dangerous acquaintance. Both have a stake in the outcome of Eve’s destiny.
Who designed your gorgeous cover?
Revelation’s cover design is a collaboration between an amazing artist, Claudia McKinney at Phatpuppy Art and myself.
Please describe the setting in REVELATION?
The contemporary story of Revelation is set on the backdrop of a small college town and campus in Massachusetts.
What features distinguish REVELATION from others on the subject?
While the story of young, forbidden love is not new, Revelation is chalk-full of new paranormal characters and fantasy worlds that have yet to really be explored within this genre.
In your opinion, what is the market for REVELATION?
When I wrote Revelation, I wrote it as something that I would be completely interested in reading myself. I think women, ages seventeen and above will gravitate to the storyline.
Who are your favorite authors?
There are so many amazing authors out there now it’s hard to choose. My favorite all time author is Jane Austen, however, I’m a huge fan of: Amy Bartol, Colleen Hoover, Jessica Sorensen and S.C. Stephens.
Share a bit about Asher St. Michael with us, and tell readers what makes him "hero" material:
Asher St. Michael is cocky, good-looking, and full of secrets. He struggles a lot with his loyalty to duty and family, and his growing attraction and feelings for Eve. Asher tends to compartmentalize in order to function daily and Eve’s entrance into his life really throws him off balance. He’s a man who will drive you crazy, but love you hard.
Tell us what makes Eve the "leading lady" in REVELATION:
One of the many things I love about creating Eve Collins is that she is stubborn, mature, and isn’t a side-line heroine. In the midst of her world turning upside down, Eve still manages to hold her head high and logically and rationally be able to maneuver all that is thrown at her. All while wearing, vanilla-coconut gloss.
Are there any plot twists you can talk about without giving too much away?
This is a hard one the first book is really an introduction into a new world and new characters in the paranormal genre so everything feels like a spoiler. I will say, nothing is what it seems and no one is who he or she seems to be.
What challenge, if any, did you face turning REVELATION into fiction?
As a new author, I think the biggest hurdle in getting this idea and these characters into story form, was really deciding what elements to add into the story and making sure the puzzle pieces clicked. I wanted to be sure that even though we can take you to the unbelievable in the paranormal genre, it was still, believable, if that makes sense.
Why do you write paranormal fiction?
Paranormal is my favorite genre. In my opinion, it’s the one genre that you can create entirely new worlds and push the limits of creativity. If done well, a paranormal book can take the reader on a journey that not only did they never image, but completely loose themselves in. I’ve read hundreds of books in this genre and I felt that the storylines and characters began to seem eerily similar. I was craving something different, and that’s how Revelation was really born.
Is REVELATION part of a series? If so tell us about what's next and/or what else you're working on:
Revelation is volume one in The Revelation Series. Restraint, book #2, is done and in final edits with an expected release date of August 2014. Redemption, book #3 is almost complete. I’m also working on two projects that are standalone books within the contemporary romance genre that I’m excited to share.
What local community or charitable organizations, or writers groups do you belong too?
Currently, I am a chair of the Southeastern Connecticut Autism Speaks organization. In addition, I do a lot of local community work in Massachusetts. I’ve just joined the Romance Writers of America®.
Tell us anything about you as a working writer that you think might be interesting or unusual:
Well, I have had this hideous pair of jeans since college. They are too big, have tons of holes and to be frank, have seen better days. My husband and daughter are dying to throw them out, and have tried on several occasions. However, they are my lucky jeans and I wrote a lot of The Revelation Series in them, so now, they are forever my ‘writing’ jeans. I am extremely superstitious, especially with numbers. For instance, there are 22 chapters in Revelation because it’s my daughter’s birthday. I have to have everything in either 3 or 5’s. Unusual, or crazy, enough J?
Thank you for sharing your story with our readers, Randi!

“I’ve read so many paranormal books; it’s hard to hook me sometimes. Especially with something unique that is a book hard to put down. I found that in this one. It’s the world building of the story that fascinated me more than anything else.” — Terri Thomas, My book boyfriend
