“Suspense filled, evocative and heart pounding.” - Book Addict Mumma
“Lisa Eugene is one of my top 10 authors. She writes some wicked good mystery-suspense-erotica that I LOVE! Gah it's so good! and now that it's over I want more more more! This is the third book in the Washington Memorial Series (it's a stand alone so no cliffy) and it just keeps getting better and better every time!” - Taryn Lee’s Book Blog
“Written with knowledge of the medical profession, this love/lust story grabs your attention with its ‘who done it tale’. The heroine in the book is an intelligent woman who finds herself entangled in more than she bargained for. I like to compare the book to a 50 shades meets Sydney Sheldon.” - Annie, Amazon reviewer

Please give readers a short overview of each book in the Washington Memorial Hospital series:
The first book in the Washington Memorial Hospital series is Strictly Business. It's a sexy mystery about two unlikely people coming together. Nina Henley is a dedicated ER physician who believes in the oaths she’s taken and the fundamental doctrines of the medical profession. When she meets Wade Connolly, a medical malpractice attorney, everything she believes in is turned upside down. Wade hates physicians. His goal in life is to weed out the quacks and seek justice for patients that have suffered from the incompetence of physicians. Wade uncovers an insurance scam occurring right under Nina’s nose. Patients are not getting the treatment they need. Doubting him, Nina works with Wade to uncover the truth, but what they both find is a dangerous web of death and deceit that puts them in danger. From the moment they meet, Wade and Nina have undeniable chemistry. Passion ignites between them, and while working together, it becomes clear that it will be a struggle to keep their relationship strictly business.
The second book in the Washington Memorial Hospital series is Steal My Heart. Ex Navy SEAL, Gabe Masters has a dark past. He’s an Ex-SEAL who hires out his services to the highest bidder. When an assignment goes bad, he’s shot and pursued by assassins through the streets of New York City. He’s in disguised as a dirty hobo. Near death, he passes out in the subway. Luckily, he encounters nurse Maggie Lawson who is on her way home from work. Maggie is an excellent nurse. She’s great at her job because she’s an absolute, certifiable, needs-to-be-committed germaphobe. The thought of stepping in to do mouth-to-mouth on this hobo does not sit well with her, but she does what she needs to do to save the stranger’s life. A few days later, Gabe escapes the hospital and seeks refuge at the apartment of his savior. Still pursued by his enemy, Gabe and Maggie narrowly escape with their lives. Maggie has been ‘kidnapped’ by this man she’s starting to realize is much more than a vagrant. Gabe will find he’s got more on his hands than he bargained for. This funny, whimsical, erotic story will keep you turning the pages as you follow the evolving romance of Gabe and Maggie, while the suspense and intrigue will keep your heart pounding. Until the very end, you will not know who you can trust or who are the villains. The suspense will keep you on edge, and you will love every minute of it.
My third book in the Washington Memorial Hospital series, Surrender My Love, is an erotic story of two very strong willed individuals falling in love. Chloe is a nurse who is shouldering a lot of responsibility. She’s been hurt in the past, but has grown stronger for it. Although she has the facade of someone very capable, inside she is insecure and afraid. Dr. Brad Markson is a control freak. He’s used to being the best at everything and expects no less from those around him. He’s egotistical, demanding, and random sex from willing partners is his idea of a good relationship. The last thing he’s interested in are emotional ties. When patients start dropping dead at Washington Memorial Hospital, he looks for answers in the nurse who’s on duty. Chloe also realizes that the deaths are too many to be a coincidence. The two work together to uncover the sinister events surrounding the patients deaths and find that they are in danger. They discover that a pharmaceutical company has been illegally testing a drug on elderly patients. Brad and Chloe’s attraction could not be denied. As lust ignites between them in this erotic story, they find that beneath the flame are two vulnerable hearts that need each other. Brad also has insecurities that are buried deep. The two of them must surrender to each other if they are ever to find love.
What was your inspiration for the Washington Memorial Hospital series?
I love to read mystery/suspense novels, but I’m often frustrated because I also long for a little spice in my books and a good romance. I decided to combine the genres, and I find that it’s the best of both worlds.
What features distinguish the Washington Memorial Hospital series from others on the subject?
I have to say that I don’t find many romantic suspense novels with a medical theme. Many refer to my books as Sydney Sheldon or Robert Ludlum meets Fifty Shades. It a great combination that is unique.
In your opinion, what is the market for the Washington Memorial Hospital series?
The market is for anyone who loves a steamy romance that will keep their heart pounding for many different reasons.
Who are your favorite authors?
My favorite authors are Robert Ludlum, Michael Chrighton, Emma Chase, Katy Evans, Raine Miller
What challenge, if any, do you face when plotting a mystery?
The challenge I face when plotting a mystery is tying all the pieces together at the end. I tend to leave a lot of clues as I write a mystery. Some readers pick up on them and some do not. They are like crumbs leading to the finale. At the end I need to make sure that all the questions are answered and everything is explained.
Why romantic suspense?
I write Romantic Suspense because I love both genres and feel that in these books the reader gets the best of both worlds. I write as a reader who loves romance and who loves suspense. I often don’t know how my books will end, so it’s a wonderful journey for me as well.
Tell us about what's next and/or what else you're working on:
I’m working on a group of novellas that speak to the human heart and delve into topics that you do not see in traditional romance novels. I think though that these are real life situations that show a side of humanity that is often neglected. Compassion, sympathy, and even darker emotions such as envy and lust that are destructive. I can’t wait to tell these stories.
What local community or charitable organizations, or writers groups do you belong too?
I belong to a local writers group here on Long Island. They are friends, critics, mentors, and hecklers. I don’t know what I’d do without them.
Have you won any Honors, Citations or Prizes?
My first book, Strictly Business won an honorary mention award in the romantic suspense category in the 2013 Reader’s Favorite Awards.
Tell us anything about you as a working writer that you think might be interesting or unusual:
I am absolutely obsessed with writing. When I get a story in my head, I live and breathe the characters. I can often be found mumbling to myself or scratching random paragraphs on discarded napkins. I never write with an outline, and never know how a book will end. It is often as much a surprise to me as it is to my readers.
Thank you so much for sharing your series with us, Lisa!
