Raised on a down home blend of Johnny Cash, Jack London, Sherlock Holmes, the Steelers, and all things small town, she feels blessed to have grown up in a close knit, fun loving and artistic family. Her mother, a voracious reader and scratch cook, and her father, an entrepreneur, English teacher and lover of literature, taught Rebecca and her brother to work hard, aim for the stars, and live life.
With music, books and laughter as constant companions, she grew up working, cooking and eating in the family’s restaurant business. A certified book and hoagie junkie, she thrives on live music, mysteries and the outdoors.
Rebecca is a cheddar enthusiast, lover of cats, teddy bears, hot coffee, cold beer, thunderstorms, the blast of a train’s whistle, the change of seasons, country roads, woodpeckers, spoon rings, cool office supplies, and the Food Network.

People may be surprised to know I worked as an accountant for over a decade before I started freelancing and writing fiction. It’s that whole right brain, left brain thing, but my creativity and attention to detail comes together well – most days!
I’ve always been a storyteller at heart, and I strive to write the kind of stories I love to read – gritty, suspenseful and featuring authentic, edgy and vulnerable characters, smack dab in the middle of action that explodes from page one. Empowered, kick ass heroines and the heroes who love them inspire me, no matter the genre.
My upcoming Crossing Realms paranormal/urban fantasy series takes place in the city of Pittsburgh, where the only hope for a clan of human guardians against an enemy draining its life force is a trio of women possessing psychic powers.
Interestingly, or oddly enough, my inspiration for the first book in the series, The Keeper, morphed out of me pondering what might happen if a woman with anxiety who was terrified of driving got trapped in gridlock on an interstate. I started scratching away and filled an entire notebook with ideas.
Nick Geary is the hero of The Keeper. The clan leader of the Keepers in Pittsburgh, he’s a human guardian, jaded, tortured by secrets, and doomed to love a woman who’s forgotten him, time after time, for thirteen years: Libby Klink.
Libby is the heroine. I’ve always loved the name Elizabeth (it’s my middle name, in case you were wondering what the ‘E.’ stood for :) ) But Libby is definitely no Elizabeth. And she’s no Betty. She’s somewhere between the two. I love that there’s so many different names that come from Elizabeth, and that’s who she is – a lot of different people and traits.
As for Klink? Libby marches to her own drum, and Klink is just deliciously odd as a last name. It’s one syllable, and it’s as perfect an example of onomatopoeia as I’ve ever heard. Klink! She is the sound – odd, out of place and different from everyone else.
I grew up near the city of Pittsburgh, and while it has all the city trappings, it possesses a small town feel which feels like home to me. The city provided me with a festival of settings and backdrops from which to choose and adds a layer to the story as it unfolds. Pittsburgh still embraces and embodies blue collar workers and all they stand for, and the story pays homage to that throughout.
Writing continues to be an adventure for me, in every way possible, and I’m truly grateful to all the people who support me, and join in that adventure. I invite you along for the ride!
Coming soon from Rebecca: The Keeper (Crossing Realms #1)
When Nick is ordered by the clan’s guiding force to seek Libby’s help in defending the clan against enemy Betrayers, romance sizzles as the pair forms an unlikely alliance in their desperate search to discover the key to the clan’s salvation—which Libby alone holds.
But a haunting secret could cost Nick everything, and in a race against time, both will be forced to choose between their hearts and duty. Can their love, and the clan survive, or will the very forces that drew them together ultimately destroy them?
The battle in the Steel City begins.
